Description of the Accommodation
Csekefalva (Cechesti) - geographical location:
Western Romania (Transylvania), Hargitha county
Csekefalva is a little village of 250 inhabitants in the heart of the so-called ‘land of the Szekelys’. The szekelys are a unique Hungarian ethnic group. Great storytellers, great drinkers, who has kept their songs, their folk tales and their gastronomy, thus saving their peculiar culture and traditions for the next generation. Be the very same slice of soil their family has lived on for hundreds of years Hungarian, Romanian or EU territory.
Csekefalva is in the southern part of Hargita county, halfway between Odorieu Secuiesc and Sigishoara. The closest town is Cristuru Secuiesc (about 2 km, 1.2 miles). The village is located in the picturesque valley of the ‘Gagy’ creek. It is famous for its two tilted church towers which greet the curious visitor from the two sides of the main street as if they were coquetting with each othe
