Welcome to the Hostel Amber!
The accommodation is located at the border of the city centre, in the green belt of the city. It takes 8 minutes to get to the train station and 15 minutes to get to the city centre on foot.
The house has an interior living surface of 70m² and 800m² of landscaped garden with 3 closed parking spots.
Szombathely or the Latin name Savaria is often called the “Queen of the West”, is an in Hungarian terms big city at the western border of the country, located 15 kilometres from Austria.
Its history goes back to 50 BC to the former roman city, Colonia Claudia Savaria. The architectural monuments of different ages can be seen all around the city.
Our hostel was named after the more than 50 million years old material, amber, what also the ancient Amber Road was named after. This trade route connected all parts of the Roman Empire and also led through Szombathely. Amber is a material often used in jewellery, is also believed to have magical healing properties and thus still has its use in today’s medicines.

As the accommodation is located on the border of the inner-city, it receives and benefits both from the vivacious and natural side of the city.
The house was built in 1958, has an east – west orientation and is a two-storey civil building with 70m² living surface where two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom are located on the upper storey. The hostel offers the perfect place for relaxation of a family of 5 or a 5-member group of friends.
The terrace behind the house offers the excellent place for a sunny breakfast or simply for relaxing in the shadows.
The 800m² large landscaped garden provides spiritual refreshment with flowers, shady trees and birds.
