Our guesthouse opened in January 2020 in the Keszthely Mountains, halfway between Keszthely-Hévíz and Sümeg, 18 km from Lake Balaton, at the western tip of the Balaton Uplands National Park, in Vindornyalak with 76 inhabitants. Its name (Black Dog Guesthouse) was inspired by our dogs, Fuego and Nabu, who are one and a half, and three years old (January 2020). They are two adopted black mixed breed neutered males, whom we love as family members. At the end of 2022, two cats joined us. The accommodation is dog-friendly, but since there are now also cats who sleep outside at night and are not always afraid of dogs, we expect dogs who do not hurt them, or before letting the dogs into the garden, the owners make sure that the cats are not around, or the dogs walk on a leash .

We are Hungarian and French people who came from urban life to realize and have that surrandings what we could imaging as a perfect. We enjoy magical and inspirational nature, animals and country-side people near us, we have all conforts, energy comes from the zen radiational stupa, we can meditate and create, art smells in the air.

We encourage to stay for all countryside-rustic lovers, trippers-trekkers-hikers, bikers, zen-calm-silence seekers, transit travellers, art lovers, dog admirers, and also those who would like only chatting near a cup of coffee or tea. We welcome our guests with family hospitality. Within 25 km, there are tourist attractions in all directions, including hiking trails, wildlife, thermal baths and the Balaton lake beaches, medieval castles, adventure parks, horseback riding and local wines.

When we renovated our modest farmhouse, we thought of saving and 'reusing' the basalt stone barn. This is how the Hungarian-French family business, the Black Dog Guesthouse, was established. The building is located behind the main house.

We have been mindful of ensuring that our guests have a comfortable stay while retaining traditional elements. We left the stone wall covered inside and reinforced the roof structure with a new peasant ceiling seen from the inside. The kitchen is also newly equipped with all necessary utensils.

The guest house is so new that there is still a few things to do in the garden, but it is developing nicely. On the half-hectare area, the old well has yet to be renovated, the big basalt stones must be used for various things, more fruit trees should be planted and the terrace will be covered by roof. There is also a third building, the barn, where we can imagine many more, such as a café, fruit juice bar or a painting and creative workshop.

The guesthouse operator is obliged to issue an invoice to the customer, even if the guest does not require it. For this we need a name and billing address. If you would not like to disclose this personal data, we will have the right to to refuse your stay without any refunding fee.
- From 2021, it is mandatory to scan guests' documents for check-in. If you would like to do this by yourself, please download the VENDÉGEM (My Guest) application and register before your arrival, or you must hand over your documents to us at the arrival. If you would not like either solution, we will have the right to refuse your stay without any refunding fee.
- during the heating season, we can provide a maximum of 20.5 °C in the entire guesthouse.
- the use of open flames is prohibited inside the guest house, fires can be made in the garden at a pre-arranged time, and smoking is only possible in the yard.
- we provide bed linen, towels, toiletries, 2 rolls of toilet paper, as well as enough coffee, tea, salt, and sugar for a few days.
- cleaning service once a week for guests staying longer than a week.
