20 kms from the cultural capital of Hungary, Pécs, with beautiful panoramic view on the Zengő hill you can find the beautiful Kishosszúrét Guesthouse located in thousand-year-old Pécsvárad. These 3 houses await their guests with a complete number of 4 rooms and sleep a total of 9+4 people. Our kitchens are fully equipped, any good housewife would approve of them. The living rooms are spacious, providing an ideal environment for good and long conversation. The terrace is situated under a roof and is equipped with a traditional wooden hot tub, allowing you to let go of your worries. All rooms are equipped with on-suite bathrooms, so that you can refresh yourself without being disturbed by anyone. The rooms also have air conditioning that allow both for heating and cooling on days when temperatures go above or below ideal, on rainy days you can also make us of the free wi-fi connection. Taking a walk in the lush garden you will find possibilities to build a campfire, bbq or – if the season allows - pick some fresh fruit from the orchard. In a few minutes walk you can discover the 3 hectare fishing lake where people interested in fishing sports can also practice their hobby. Anyone interested in getting acquainted with animals has the option to take a closer look at our special sheep, boars and horse.
This guesthouse is an essential part of our little self-sustaining economy. Although a little further, our family lives here, our main profession being animal husbandry on 30 hectares of land. We have 50 ewes and depending on the season their offspring, we have one horse and free-range pigs and boars. We prepare our own home-made dried fruit, jam, fruit-syrup and juice and high-quality palinka that you can all enjoy during your stay if you choose to. If you come at the right time, you can also spend time learning and witnessing how all these edibles are made.
What you must see in the area: The panoramic view from the Zengő lookout tower, The egg museum of Zengővárkony, the Castle of Pécsvárad with the 1000-year-old Benedictine monastery or the tours to Kisújbánya. Paul Rockenbauer, famous nature preservationist has requested himself to be buried in this area, below the chestnut trees, his grave is located only a few kilometers from Kishosszúrét. The city of Pécs awaits you as well with all its wonders and beautiful sights. The world-famous wine region of Villány is also close by, waiting to be discovered and savoured.
