Mecseki Csendidő Vendégházak Bükkösd

Bükkösd is a settlement situated in the picturesque valley between the Mecsek Mountains and the Zselic Hills, in Baranya County, South-West Hungary. There are 2 castles, 4 riding stables, a fishing pond, and a one-thousand-hectare theme park for children (where they can see large game and endemic domestic animals from Hungary). The cities of Pécs and Szigetvár are at a 20 – 25 km distance from us, and we organize guided programs to both settlements.
Our eco-guesthouses are surrounded by woods and can be found in a dead-end alley, 1.2 km from the settlement. Visitors are accommodated in three adobe houses (which were renovated in 2019 in order to meet all needs), with 10 rooms, with 26 beds in total, and in summer 16 more guests can be accommodated in 2 yurts. There is a room with 4 beds, 4 rooms with 3 beds, 4 twin bedrooms, with a community area with 34 seats, all this in a multi-hectare park. Each building has a kitchen; moreover, the community area has a very well equipped kitchen for 34 guests who can all be seated comfortably. There is a pavilion for 35 guests, with a barbecue, and outdoor cooking vessel and a small stage. The outdoor furnace and cooking stove as well as the cellar and wine place can seat 20 guests each.
The buildings are let exclusively all together, for communities (the 2, 5, 6 and 15-person buildings can be rented separately too).
Dogs (just 1 dog pro apartement), and horses are also welcome. From 1 March 2020 a 1-hectare dog-playground and a paddock grazing will be available for our guests.
Optional programmes: team-building and executive competency development trainings, different horse activities, hiking tours with picnics and packhorses, electric bike rental (max. 150 pieces, gastronomy tours to the local farmers (who are happy to come to our accommodation areas with cold and hot meals), ‘Natura con Te’ natural cosmetics and craft workshops (sewing seasonal souvenirs, tie-dyeing, felting etc.), cooking courses led by specialists (vegan and traditional meals made from seasonal, permaculture products), guided tours to the cities of Pécs and Szigetvár.
Thermal baths in the area: Szigetvár, Magyarhertelend, and Sellye; our natural water beach partner is the Kistó beach in Orfű.
The stable converted into a wellness house (Finnish and infra sauna, cold immersion tub, resting spaces, fireplace) will be 24/7 available from 1 January 2020.
This is an ECO accommodation establishment, thus we get electricity from our solar park; wastewater is neutralized by biological sewage treatment equipment, waste is reduced to a bare minimum and is collected separately and recycled as much as possible. The adobe walls have been restored, slaked lime is used for whitewashing, the insulated door and window frames are made of wood, and all the furnishing is natural. No unnecessary (dust-repelling) textile or carpets are used; all textile materials (duvets and pillows included) are washable. There are separate electric meters and water sub-meters in each apartment so that everyone can follow-up their consumption (and settle their expenses on the honour system).
Guests who respect nature are most welcome in our premises. This is a real ‘place of silence’, and for this reason you will not find network, Internet or television. Our guests are provided with hammocks which can be hung on their favourite trees, and they can relax on the sitting stones on one of the meditation terraces on the hilltop, with excellent view to the area. Our regular and dearest guests are mostly yoga teams, communities visiting for retreat, groups of friends, co-workers’ teams.
We cooperate with accommodation establishments of similar standard in the settlement, thus our capacity can be increased significantly within a 2-kilometre area. Transfer shall never be a problem.
We speak German and Italian fluently, we have passed the advanced language proficiency exam in English, and we can get along in Russian as well.
If you drive from the city of Pécs, you are recommended the Pécs – Kővágószőlő – Hetvehely – Bükkösd route, through the forest. It is a winding, but magical, adventure-drive, and it does not even take longer than crawling along Route 6. Do not believe your GPS: you will not be able to reach us through the forest from Boda. The best way from Szigetváris through Szigetvár – Szentlőrinc –Cserdi. Do not hesitate to call in case you lose your way.
