About the chateau
Liblice Castle is one of the most complete monuments of the Czech High Baroque from the workshop of the Italian architect Giovanni Battista Alliprandi, who in 1699 developed a unique project for a new work, at the instigation of the then owner of the estate, later elevated to the rank of count, Mr. Arnošt Josef Pachta of Rájov.

In 1863, Countess Antonia of Valdštejn bought the castle. She rebuilt the interiors of the castle in the then modern Neo-Renaissance style. After her death, her daughter Christiana Thun-Hohenstein inherited the castle. The last noble family to own the castle was the Thun-Hohensteins until 1945, when the property passed into the ownership of the state, which later handed it over to the administration of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.
