Wine-growing has a few hundred years’ tradition in the southern part of the Bács-Kiskun county. This fact is confirmed by numerous documents dating from the 1700s which have urged those inhabitants with German origin on grape-growing. Hajós, labelled the international town of grape and wine has excellent soil and climatic features. The village of wine-cellars, a unique feature all over Europe includes more than one thousand wine-press houses built over cellars gouged out of loess walls, offering a captivating show and a pleasant place for relaxation for every visitor.
Our family has been engaged in viniculture for more than 40 years. In the beginning we held about two hectares of vineyards, but nowadays we own about 35 hectares of vineyards. Our winery, with the capacity of storing about 5000 hectolitres of wine, along with the wine-press house apply both traditional and modern methods of mellowing and advanced fermentation technologies, which allows bottling and storing. Due to our diligent work the following seasoned wines are matured and bottled in our winery: Blue Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zweigelt, Kadarka, Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Seasoned Cserszegi. Fans of Hungarian wine, up to 150 people are warmly welcomed to the Winery Inn for wine-tasting, with the opportunity of cooking on open fire.There are great outdoor facilities for children too, including a playground with climbing frames and swings. Cellar apartments also provide accommodation for our visitors.
We have rebuilt the wine-press house, to be found right at the heart of the wine-cellar village, with respect to our traditions and where organised groups of visitors up to 42 people can enjoy wine-tasting. The family’s cask-cellars, formed and gouged in loess-soil provide optional circumstances for mellowing wine both in casks and bottles, with a total storing volume of 500 hectolitres. There is a Museum Square belonging to the winery, which is used for storing and exhibiting wines collected from the 1970s on.
