"Hotel Omorika**** is located about 2 km from the centre of Crikvenica. Surrounded by Mediterranean plants it rises above the promenade that is next to a pebbled beach. With a panoramic swimming pool on the terrace, you will surely remember your stay in this hotel for the beautiful view that opens up to the blue sea and the greenery of the island of Krk. The hotel was built in 1973. It got its name from a protected endemic tree “Omorika” that was discovered by botanist dr Josip Pančić, who was born is this area, in Bribir. The tree was discovered in 1855 and is considered a living fossil as it dates back to the Tertiary period. Outside of its natural habitat, Pančić’s omorika is of great value to horticulture as an ornamental plant in gardens and parks. A statue to honour botanist Pančić was placed in front of the hotel.
The hotel was renovated in 2015. and 2016. Today, its interior is in a retro style, a combination of the modern and the old charming 70’s style. The size of the hotel, its spacious halls and state rooms tell a story of glamour of past times. Hotel Omorika held famous symposiums and scientific gatherings. The best known is the 1st World Symposium of Astronauts on the subject of Danikan’s book on aliens.
